My stay at this hotel had its ups and downs. The rooms were spacious for four people but felt stuffy and outdated. The service was top-notch with warm and courteous hospitality, and they even kindly accommodated our dinner request. The location was amazing, right on the beautiful Lake Ashi, perfect for exploring the area, but the dining options were not to my liking as a European.

Rooms
7.0
The rooms, overlooking the lake, were big enough for four persons but felt like they hadn't been refreshed for decades.
Service
9.0
The service was fantastic with great hospitality, warmth, and courtesy. The staff were lovely, helpful, and very courteous throughout my stay.
Location

The location was superb, right on the shore of Lake Ashi in Motohakone, next to the boat jetty and city bus stop, offering a great view of Mount Fuji on clear days.
Dining

The dining experience, while unique for some, was not much to my taste as a European traveler.
Facilities

The hotel offers a unique dining experience you should try and additional light bites, but the overall dining was not very appealing to my taste.

Staying at this hotel was a mix of positives and negatives. The rooms were very comfortable, although a bit too warm, and the hotel was quiet, which is nice for a peaceful stay, but it felt a bit empty without many other guests around. The views from the banquet room were excellent, overlooking the lake. On the downside, the rooms with a lake side view faced a road, impacting the overall experience.

The hotel rooms are comfortable, although a bit too warm. The quiet atmosphere adds to the stay, but it can feel empty with few other guests around. The banquet room offers great views of the lake, very nice to enjoy.
Service
9.0
The service at the hotel was exceptional. The staff was very kind and accommodating, going out of their way to ensure a pleasant stay, even though I didn't speak Japanese. Room service and taxi service were prompt and friendly.
Location
9.0
The location of the hotel is one of its main highlights. It's worth it for those seeking a beautiful lake view and a chance to see Mount Fuji. Situated directly in front of the magnificent Lake Ashi, it's very convenient for exploring the area and close to transport hubs like the boat port and bus station.
Dining
7.0
The dining experience at the hotel was a bit of a mixed bag. The traditional meals served were exactly what I was hoping for, in a lovely tea room setting. However, the lack of morning restaurant options in Hakone was a problem. Breakfast choices were limited, which could be improved.
Facilities
8.0
The hotel facilities are decent, with a blend of traditional and modern amenities. The lack of dining options in the morning was a downside, while the banquet room stood out as a great space with scenic lake views.

The hotel had a picturesque view overlooking the mountains and provided a cozy stay despite the cold weather outside. The rooms were a bit old, including the bathrooms, but the location near Lake Ashi made up for it. The service felt like a home away from home with wonderful elderly staff, though a touch of modernization could enhance the overall experience.

The facilities were reminiscent of the 80s but functional and sufficient for a comfortable stay.
